1. Back Up Feature Overview
The Back Up feature allows you to create copies of your configuration files from the Node Configuration, Custom Setting Editor and Customize framework features. This ensures that you have a version saved in case something goes wrong with the original files.
1.1 Accessing the Back Up Feature to Take a Manual Back Up
Perform the following:
- Navigate to the Main Canvas.
- In the Project Explorer pane, search for your project.
- In the Configuration Folder (Verify the cart details), click More Menu (icon) to view sub options, as shown:
- Choose Back Up option to view Back up pop-up window.
After a successful backup, a confirmation message will appear in the top-right corner of your screen, stating:
"Backup completed successfully".
2. Restore Feature Overview
The Restore feature allows you to recover your files from a previous backup. If something goes wrong with your current files or settings, you can use this feature to return to a saved version.
2.1 Accessing Restore Feature
- Navigate to the Main Canvas.
- In the Project Explorer pane, search for the same project where you had previously backed up your files.
- In the Configuration Folder (Verify the cart details) , click More Menu (icon) to view sub options.
- Choose Restore option from the sub options to view Restore window.
- Restore pop-up window displays serial number, date and time frame as to when the action is performed and the Action options. In this window, select the required options in the Action column.
- Click Restore button and click OK.
2.2 Configuring Auto Backup and Restore Settings
In the Project Settings page, you can set the settings to take the auto-back up of your configuration files and set the restore settings.
Perform the following:
- Navigate to the Main Canvas.
- Select this icon to view Project Settings Page on the Main Menu.
- Project Settings Page appears. In this screen, you can select no back up if you wish to take back up manually.
- Otherwise, select the desired frequency (daily, weekly, or monthly) from the drop-down menu, as shown:
- In the Restore Settings section, you can set the Restore points for restoring the backed up files. Restore points indicate the maximum number of backups a project can have in the restore section. For new projects, the default value is 4, but it can be adjusted between 4 and 31. Click plus icon to increase the restore points and minus icon to decrease the restore points.
For example, when the restore point is set to 4 and if you have taken backup of four files at 4:00 PM on a given day, these are stored as your initial backup files. If you modify one of these files at 4:30 PM and take a new backup, the system will replace the oldest backup file among the initial four with this updated version.
The "Action" option in the "Restore" window will be disabled based on the frequency of your auto-backups—daily, weekly, or monthly. If you haven't made any changes to your project, you won’t be able to use the "Action" option on the scheduled backup days, depending on your auto-backup settings.
For example, if you haven’t made any changes to your project and auto-backup is set to daily, the "Action" option will be disabled the next day when you try to restore it in the "Restore" window. Hover over this option to view a message explaining why it is unavailable. - As an administrator, if you assign a project to a user, user will not have the permission to set the auto backup settings and restore points for that project. If the user wants to create a backup, they must inform the administrator to handle the backup process.
Note: If you try to access Backup and Restore feature while test cases are being generated, then you will see the following error message, as shown:
