Scraping the UI Elements Using algoScraper Tool on Your Desktop

You can capture all UI elements and XPaths present on a desktop application page using algoScraper Tool.

Make sure you have  installed algoScraper tool. If not, refer to Installation steps for algoScraper.



Perform the following:

  1. After installing algoscraper tool, launch the application from your desktop app icon.

  2. The following screen appears. In this screen, select the Scrape Desktop App button.
  3. Desktop App scraper screen appears. In this screen, enter the Process Name as Calculator and Screen Name as Standard. Click Attach button to attach the application.


  4. Confirmation pop-up appears saying Calculator App is attached as shown. Click OK.

  5. Click Scrape button to Scrape the UI elements of the screen.  The following screen appears showing the scraping details as completed.

  6. You can search for a particular control by entering the control name in the Enter control name box and click Search button. You can clear the search details using Clear button.

  7. Scrape all the required UI elements. By clicking the Download button, download the file which is available in .CSV format. Click Ok. The downloaded spreadsheet contains control name, control, XPath and page Name.

  8. After downloading, you can reset to default settings by clicking the Reset button and close the application by clicking the Close button.
