1. Profiling Overview

Profiling involves mimicking a UI model of an application using nodes, features and UI elements.

The following screenshot provides a mapping of Nodes to Features to UI elements , offering a structured understanding of the Amazon application's architecture.

1.1 Node

A node is formed when several features are combined and mapped to the UI elements.

You can associate UI elements of an application with specific nodes and features. For example, you can consider logical components like modules, pages, and screens to be Nodes within the Amazon application's structure.

Some of the examples from the Amazon Portal main page:

  • Returns and Orders
  • Hello, Sign In
  • Mobiles
  • Best Sellers

In the Amazon Portal Main page, all the products listed under the hamburger menu can be considered as Nodes.

1.2 Feature

Tabs, Menus, and Pop-ups can be designated as the application's features. Some of the examples for features under Mobiles node:

  • Electronics
  • Mobile and Accessories

Additionally, a pop-up can also be considered as a feature. An example of this can be observed when a pop-up appears for adding your location in an Amazon Portal.

1.3 UI Element

A UI element (User Interface element) is a control in a software application that users interact with to perform tasks.
Some of the UI elements are text boxes, buttons, dropdowns, labels, and radio buttons, contribute to the user interface.
In the screenshot provided in the Profiling Overview, while the physical school bag is not a UI element, various interactive elements associated with the product, such as the image, title, price, and buttons, are considered UI elements. These components allow users to interact with the product and perform actions such as viewing more details, adding items to their cart, or selecting specific options like size or color.

1.4 Follow Me

You can record your scenarios using Follow Me feature and save the workflow or scenario or use case. Scenario will be saved in the same sequence it has been recorded.  To access Follow Me feature, navigate to Main canvas > click Follow Me button. For more information on how to use Follow Me feature, see Recording Scenarios using Follow Me.

1.5 Generate Test Cases

You can generate test cases using Generate button.   To access Follow Me feature, navigate to Main canvas > click Generate button. For more information on how to use Generate Test Cases feature, see Generate Test Cases
